No pigs on this farm

Pigs are cheap, plentiful, and, when it comes to decomposing, a lot like humans. The University of Tennessee’s Anthropological Research Facility, however, uses even better test subjects: actual human bodies. The facility, nicknamed the Body Farm, studies donated bodies in various states of decay. The bodies are placed on the grass, buried in holes, sunk in ponds, and shut in the trunks of cars—anywhere an unidentified body might turn up.

Researchers at the Body Farm create profiles of how human bodies look in the days and weeks after death. That means examining subjects as they bloat and putrefy, until they’re nothing more than skeletons in clothing. It might sound gross, but it’s valuable work for crime scene investigators.

Would you donate your body to a “Body Farm”? Or do you think it’s better to use animals like pigs for forensic science experiments?

I hope never to visit the Body Farm, alive or dead! I'm glad there are others willing to donate there bodies to the Body Farm. I'll donate organs to others who need them when I die, but that's about it.

I personally think that human bodies for study would be the most accurate, and beneficial in further study which is helpful in so many ways.If I can I will donate my mortal remains for science because in the long -run this type of research will benefit people in one way or another at some point although many will not see it that way, none the less human bodies in my opinion is the best option.

Ha ha, nice job, now once I die, I will either mummify myself, freeze my body in a block of ice, or cremate it.

This is extremely interesting and useful for future knowledge. Forensic scientists, medical examiners and other people will be able to determine cause of death, how long, and where the body deteriorated. I'm 13 years of age and believe this will help many in the future. Using animals wouldn't be as accurate, or visualy the same. As long as people are donating with consent, I'm Pro-Body Farm
